Case Study A Clients Kitchen Remodel: Harmonizing Style with Multiple Cabinet Finishes

Remodeling a kitchen is often more than just picking out new appliances, cabinets, or hardware—it’s about crafting a space that’s both inviting and uniquely tailored to each homeowner’s personality and needs. In a recent client project, our team was tasked with a complete kitchen reconfiguration, one that challenged the idea that “everything must perfectly match” to achieve a cohesive, warm environment. Instead, by thoughtfully combining four different cabinetry finishes and a medley of metallic accents, we created a kitchen that feels both sophisticated and inviting, proving that harmony can be beautifully complex.

The Power of Reconfiguration

Our clients came to us with a outdated kitchen that didn’t meet the home owners desire for cooking anymore, it was just A far cry from the beautiful space they dreamed of. By reconfiguring the layout—moving appliances around and modifying a few walls, and introducing a generous island with high functioning cabinetry—we established efficient zones for cooking, entertaining, and gathering. This modern footprint became the perfect canvas for our creative approach to finishes in this kitchen.

Four Cabinet Finishes, One Unified Vision

Where many kitchens stick to one cabinet color or stain, our clients dared to dream bigger. We selected four distinct finishes:

1. Classic Warm White Perimeter: The upper cabinets and much of the perimeter feature a timeless soft white paint that instantly brightens the space, providing a crisp backdrop for bolder choices.

2. Grounded by a rich rift white oak the base cabinets, tall paneled refrigerator and tall pantry floor-to-ceiling cabinetry in rich carmel color introduces a modern sophistication, nodding to contemporary design while serving as a subtle anchor point.

3. Rich Olive Green Island: For the island and dry bar. We chose a rich color for a dramatic impact, adding depth and grounding the open plan with an organic touch.

4. Classic Burgandy Accent cabinets are the true impact in the room. Select upper cabinets and display shelves in an rich red tone with glass fronts and light wood interiors offer visual lightness, allowing for collections of ceramics and glassware to shine. This piece will high light details to make it look like a piece of furniture.

Each finish was carefully situated to frame the kitchen’s zones, delineating function but always maintaining a visual thread that connects one area to the next.

Blending Metals with Purpose - Beyond cabinetry, a mix of metal finishes in our hardware and plumbing will add another layer of interest:

Warm Brass Faucet and pulls lend a touch of vintage charm and tie in with darker kitchen accessories. Combined with Polished Chrome Appliances and range with its impressive 60” range reflect light, blending seamlessly with both warm and cool tones throughout the kitchen.

Brushed Brass on the warm white cabinets paired with a dark pulls on the rich olive island warm up the bold color and echo the tones found in chandelier lighting overhead the nook table.

Dark pulls trim accent cabinets, their crisp profile providing modern contrast without overwhelming. Rather than competing for attention, these metals were selected in complementary tones and repeated thoughtfully, so no single element feels out of place.

Achieving Cohesion in Contrast

The secret to blending such diverse materials is intentionality: by repeating certain finishes, maintaining consistent lines and profiles, and always considering the overall warmth of the space, we ensured every combination felt deliberate. For example, the warm undertones of the walnut are reflected in the brass, while the muted charcoal gray is softened by the warmth of brass accents. Lighting, natural textures, and a unifying backsplash in creamy subway tile bring everything together, leaving the kitchen harmonious rather than hectic.

A Warm, Inviting Hub

Step into the finished kitchen, and it’s immediately apparent: this is a space designed for living, not just looking. The interplay of finishes gives depth and dimension, while a commitment to a shared warmth makes it undeniably homey. Our clients now enjoy a kitchen that celebrates diversity in design—a confident blend of colors, textures, and metals that proves a cohesive, inviting environment is all about balance and storytelling. Construction begins later summer for this Centennial CO home.

Whether you’re dreaming of a subtle update or considering a complete reimagining, don’t be afraid to mix things up. With thoughtful planning and creative confidence, your kitchen can be as unique and welcoming as you are.
