Gourmet Kitchen Nestled in Amanda Pines Estates

When I first met with the clients, their passion for cooking was immediately apparent. They presented me with an impressive gourmet appliance list—featuring a 60-inch range and a pair of refrigerator and freezer columns totaling 72 inches—which they had already purchased. Their goal was not only to showcase these high-end Subzero & Wolf appliances but also to radically transform the layout of their home to create an open, inviting family kitchen.

The existing kitchen was enclosed, dominated by cherry cabinets and dark paneling that even covered the ceiling. The clients wanted to remove the wall between the family room and kitchen to achieve an open-concept layout. However, with such large appliances and the removal of cabinetry, space planning became a significant challenge.

To address this, we proposed removing a large, oversized window that looked out onto a little-used corner of the backyard. This strategic choice made possible a modest addition, expanding the exterior wall just enough to comfortably accommodate the 60-inch range without compromising other essential kitchen functions. Sharing this vision for a subtle yet impactful addition truly resonated with the clients; they immediately recognized the transformative potential and made the expansion a priority.

The design involved reconfiguring the floor plan to create a seamless flow between cooking, dining, and gathering spaces. The luxurious appliance suite is now the heart of the kitchen, giving it a showpiece quality appropriate for the client’s love of gourmet cooking. Light, modern cabinetry and finishes were selected to counterbalance the scale of the appliances and reinforce the fresh, open aesthetic. The clients thought that they wanted a mostly creamy white kitchen, however when we shared the 3d realistic renderings with them and showed them both options we all agreed that we should incorporate more of the warm wood tones to the space.

The creation of this gourmet family kitchen represents more than an upgrade; it is a dramatic transition that redefines the entire floor plan and enhances how the family lives, entertains, and connects. This project transforms a once-enclosed, outdated space into an inviting and functional hub at the center of the home, truly reflecting the clients’ vision and love for exceptional cuisine.
