Today we’d like to introduce you to Bonnie Bagley Catlin.

Bonnie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
With over twenty-five years of professional experience, I have devoted my career to crafting immersive environments that authentically reflect each client’s identity. As a woman thriving in the traditionally male-dominated building industry, I pride myself on seamlessly blending captivating aesthetics with bold, functional elements to deliver spaces that genuinely enhance everyday living.

My journey began at Neil Kelly, a premier Design Build firm in Portland, Oregon, where I laid the groundwork for a career spanning the West Coast—from Seattle to Southern California—serving an array of high-end clients. My career began humbly as an assistant to several design-remodeling consultants, an experience I deeply value as a foundational starting point. This role provided me with invaluable insights into varying approaches to both design and the remodel world, exposing me to diverse perspectives and methodologies. Each consultant I supported brought their own unique qualifications and styles, which enriched my early professional development and broadened my understanding of the industry. These formative experiences not only shaped my skills and adaptability, but also continue to influence the way I approach collaboration and problem-solving today.

In 2020, I fulfilled a long-held dream by relocating to Colorado, bringing my expertise to a new and inspiring landscape.

Recognized for my commitment to excellence and constant innovation, I have earned numerous accolades: named a Top Innovator by Kitchen & Bath Design News in 2019, honored as one of the nation’s Top 50 design professionals, and awarded Best Kitchens & Interior Designers by Colorado Home & Lifestyle for 2025. My work has received significant recognition from the design community, including 21 Best of Houzz awards for both design and service. I am also a proud long-standing member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association (since 1997) and have served on the Interior Design Society Board for 2024–2026.

My passion lies in guiding clients through every phase of the renovation process, from initial concept to completion, ensuring each project is meticulously managed for a seamless experience. I excel in bringing visions to life, emphasizing open communication and collaboration so every detail achieves the intended result—whether transforming a simple powder room or undertaking a full-scale luxury home remodel.

With an unwavering dedication to design that resonates with the people who inhabit the spaces, I remain committed to setting new standards of creativity, leadership, and client satisfaction within the design industry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, the road has not been entirely smooth. One of the initial challenges I faced was entering the field with only minimal education. Although I held an associate’s degree in design, which allowed me to begin my career, I still had much to learn about both the industry and the construction aspect of the work.

I made a conscious decision to focus on the more architectural side of the industry, specializing in kitchen and bath remodeling and the related materials and surfaces, as opposed to pursuing the softer goods and decorative materials sector.

This decision brought its own challenges, particularly when it came to mastering the complexities of cabinetry and the technical elements involved. Learning how to effectively communicate and coordinate remodeling projects, the importance of advance ordering, and planning so as not to impede the construction schedule for contractors or design-build teams were all significant learning curves.

Dealing with issues such as delayed shipments or products not arriving as expected and needing to quickly find alternative solutions has consistently presented challenges throughout my career. However, I have found that as I gained experience, such issues occurred less frequently than in the early stages of my career.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At Signature Designs Kitchen, Bath & Interiors, I specialize in the thoughtful reconfiguration of kitchens and bathrooms, as well as providing in-depth reviews of architectural plans and custom homes. My expertise lies not just in refreshing the look of a space, but in truly transforming its functionality and flow. Clients come to me with the challenge of outdated or inefficient layouts, and my passion is finding innovative solutions that enhance their daily living experience.

While I may not be a licensed architect, my work is deeply rooted in principles of interior architecture, focusing on how spaces can be reimagined to better serve their occupants. I’m particularly proud of my ability to turn complex spatial challenges into beautiful, cohesive designs that feel both new and uniquely tailored to the client’s needs.

One aspect of my work that I thoroughly enjoy is selecting finishes and details that complete the space’s transformation. However, the real challenge—and ultimately the most rewarding part—is the reconfiguration itself: ensuring that every inch contributes to both aesthetic appeal and practical use.

What truly sets Signature Designs apart is our use of advanced 3-D renderings, which allow clients to virtually step into their redesigned spaces before any construction begins. This interactive process empowers homeowners to make informed decisions with confidence, resulting in spaces that exceed their expectations. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness a client’s amazement when the project is complete—seeing their vision come to life in a way that surpasses even the most detailed renderings.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Absolutely! In addition to dedicating over 25 years to the renovation industry, I’m proud to have served on numerous design boards and charity events—a journey fueled by my genuine passion for crafting luxurious, memorable spaces. One of my favorite creative avenues is holiday decorating. At Signature Designs, our talented design team delights in transforming homes and offices with stunning Christmas decor each season. While it’s a smaller facet of our work, it brings us tremendous joy and an annual opportunity to go all out with imagination and festive cheer. If you’re looking to make your holiday space truly special, we would love to help you celebrate in style!
